Rob is the quintessential 'homeboy' being born and raised in Lansing, MI where he raised his three children all of whom graduated from the same high school that he graduated from. From his earliest memories there was a sense of something beyond the physical reality and a yearning for that. Directly, indirectly, consciously or unconsciously there was always a search for the Divine. Through his 64 years, the roads have been many crystallizing and synthesizing with a return to a beginning, Yoga. Yoga as described by Patanjali in "Yoga Sutras of Patanjali" is much more than the physical practice of the asanas or postures often described as Hatha Yoga. In the second verse of the first Sutra, Patanjali states that Yoga is the quieting of the mind, the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind, a knowing of the Divine if you will. We are physical beings on a physical planet. As such, the physical, the body, is a 'doorway' to the Divine. Asanas provide anyone who will step on the a mat, that 12 square feet of sacred space, a mirror of who we are at this moment without judgment, just the mirror. Rudyoga is a foundational approach to the asanas beginning with the breath, correct alignment at a pace that is particular for those who are interested in Yoga and are intimidated by the size and pace of typical classes in larger studios. Rudy likes to say that, "Rudyoga is foundational Yoga for awareness and that you do not have to be a pretzel to do Yoga."
